Failed to connect to my computer

Hello.
I have a very weird problem.
I have 4 computers at home and I'm using Remotly to connect with them from my Android phone.
One is running W10 Pro and the 3 other are on W11 Pro.
All run in the same WiFi network and all are behind PIA VPN with tunneling for Remotly set up, so it can avoid the VPN connection.
Problem is that I am unable to connect to one of them. It gives me Error 0 all the time. What exactly is Error 0 and how can I fix that?
Thanks.

Hi ziggy,

Thank you for reporting this problem.
Is it possible to connect to this problematic computer from another PC (not Android phone)?

Error 0 is very strange. Usually rare connection errors have (-1) code.

First we need know of this also happens when connecting from another computer.

A new big update for android app is almost ready so it would be great to fix this before this new release.

Hello.
All my computers are on the same network and I am able to connect between them without issue. I can also connect from my phone when in the same network, but not outside my home. I have not tried to connect from an outside network using a computer. The earliest I can try that is tomorrow.
Cheers

Thanks!

The PC version may show more info regarding these kind of errors. Maybe there will be a detailed description.
Are you connecting using P2P from outside? If yes, can you please try to use Connect Anywhere to check if the same error occurs?

So. The Connect Everywhere option did not work, so I went home to investigate the issue.
The client on the computer in question was somehow frozen.
The window was open and did not react to anything.
I had to force close the application and restart it.
It started working after that.

I have not checked before when this happened, but this must be the issue.
Now the question is: Why does it freeze like this?
Is there any log or something that I can check and send you?

It's a pity you did not check the admin panel if this computer was available for remote reboot :(
Yes. It's a pity, but it's not the first time that this happened to me. I have tried many options before. Not sure 100% but I might have tired that option before and I don't think it worked. When it happens again, I'll let you know for sure.

Thank you. If this happens again please check the admin panel if the REBOOT button is visible for this computer. This is as important information as it will show if there is any network access still available for Remotly.

Anyway freezes like this should not happen as there are various "watchdogs" that guard unattended computers to make them always connectable if network access is working.

So, it did happen again this morning. I went back home to pick up my laptop and checked the device to see if only the client is frozen or the entire computer. The computer worked fine, and only the client was frozen, so I left it like this and went back to work with the laptop.

I have tried to use the laptop to access the computer, and I do not get any connection errors. I can connect to the remote computer, BUT I cannot access it. The screen is black, and I get a "no signal" pop-up message.

I have tried the option to reboot the remote computer, but there is none. I can only lock or send CTRL+ALT+DEL to the remote device.

I have attempted to send multiple CTRL+ALT+DEL commands to the device, hoping that it would force a reboot, but it did not happen.
I am unsure if this panel is the admin panel you mentioned, but I could not find any other settings or panels for this remote device in my client.
If there is another way to open a different admin panel, then please let me know.

OK. I have found the admin panel on the website, and I was able to remotely reboot the computer.
After the reboot, it is working fine. Could you maybe add the option to remotely reboot the computer into the client itself?

I have been too quick in saying that it works fine. I was able to connect one time, and it is broken again.
I think there is an issue with this specific device and the PIA VPN.
I have rebooted it again and logged in without issue on the lock screen.
But as soon as I logged into Windows and my VPN started connecting, I lost all access.
I use that same VPN on my other devices with the same settings and the same newest client version without any issues.
Remotly is always set to avoid the VPN connection via tunnelling, so I have no idea why it causes an issue on this specific device.
I have tried to stop connecting after logging in to Windows, but the connection is not stable enough for me to do it that quickly.
Any ideas what can cause this? What else can we try?

When you see the "No signal. Waiting for signal.." please disconnect and use "Force compatibility mode" option on the connecting client for this remote computer. This will skip all hardware accelerations and let us know if this is some kind of display/GPU problem or a network problem.

Tried enforcing compatibility mode with and without the Connect Anywhere feature. No difference. Still black screen and no access to the remote computer. It only works on the lock screen.

Do you see video in lock screen and not in desktop?
I can see both, but after login to desktop my PIA VPN starts connecting and this is when I lose the picture and everything goes black. It should not interfere because it's set to connect via tunneling.

When I get back home I will try to completely remove the client and reinstall it. Maybe this helps.

Now i get it! Ok so it is a network problem after all. Please let me know what network devices do you see Settings -> General -> Network Interface.

I don't think reinstallation will change anything in this case.
